Pay less money for energy-and more attention to the environment. It's pretty obvious, really. An efficient steam trap wastes less energy, which means you burn less fuel and reduce emissions. The results are energy savings and a cleaner, healthier environment. By helping companies manage energy, Armstrong steam traps are also helping protect the world we all share. Steam traps have a big job, actually several tasks, in a well-designed steam system. For overall efficiency and economy, steam traps must provide:

Bimetallic steam traps have the ability to handle large start-up loads. As the system increases in temperature and pressure, the trap’s stacked nickel-chrome bimetallic elements start to expand, allowing for tight shutoff as steam reaches the trap, thus preventing steam loss. The bimetallic trap offers resistance to water hammer. A titanium valve and seat on high-pressure bimetallic traps ensure extremely long service life in the harsh environment of superheated steam systems.

Clean, economical steam from untreated water The Series CS steam-to-steam humidifiers use existing boiler steam to produce clean steam from untreated water. Because these humidifiers use steam from a central boiler as a heat source, the humidifying steam can be produced more economically than from electricity.

With traditional steam trap management programs, trap inspections usually occur only once a year—with no recognition that traps fail every day. In fact, failed traps lose steam an average of six months before they receive attention. Clearly, this is a reactive approach that waits for something to go wrong (the event).
